The British Film Institute’s Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder season brings chills and thrills to Yorkshire and Cumbria for Halloween, with five special screenings in the atmospheric venues of Bradford Cathedral Artspace, Howsham Mill, Gunnerside Village Hall and Victoria Hall, Saltaire. From classics including Village Of The Damned to Oscar winning Gravity, there will be plenty to keep you feeling spooked and on the edge of your seats.

Cine Yorkshire Rebrands as Cine North - Network Extends Over The Dales to Cumbria

Cine Yorkshire is back with a new name - Cine North – and an expanded network of 40 venues, with more than 130 cinema screenings this autumn across Yorkshire & Cumbria. A Film Hub North strategic partnership has enabled Cine North to extend its network across the dales to Cumbria, with 20 new community venues joining the network this season. The expansion is also supported by the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema Fund.

An exciting new distribution project means that for the first time, local venues such as village halls and community centres will be able to screen a groundbreaking feature film at the same time as the multiplexes! The story of the making of romantic comedy Tortoise in Love could be a film in itself.....almost the entire village of was involved involved; from the Women's Institute who did the catering through to the many villagers who put up cast and crew in their homes. Now the filmmakers want to distribute the film back out in the community by doing this part in a different way too.
